We welcome Dr Sam Coveney joining the CIMIM group as a BHF/UK CEiRSI Transition Fellow

Sam Coveney holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Sheffield. His doctoral research used simulation and theory to study phase separation and surface roughening in polymer blend thin films. He then transitioned into uncertainty quantification of complex models, with a particular focus on cardiac electrophysiology and the calibration of cardiac digital twins. Later, he applied his skills to post-processing cardiac diffusion tensor imaging datasets.

His research interests include inference and uncertainty quantification, emulation of complex models and simulators, Gaussian processes and random fields, and cardiac digital twins.

Outside of research, he is a retired successful player of competitive sport Aikido, enjoys lifting weights and running in shoes that look like gloves-for-feet, and most of all enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
